Cask Corner is a quirky venue with an assortment of weird and wonderful things on the walls, floor and ceiling (all contributed by customers), a coffin in the window, a cyclist ironing on the ceiling not to mention Clive the resident mannequin!
What once was an empty bar has been turned into a home for musicians and music lovers alike since Julie Buckley "everybody’s mum" took ownership 5 and a half years ago and has numerous awards including 2016 winning the award for Best Small Live Music Venue in Yorkshire and in 2015 Julie was awarded Most Outstanding Contribution to Live Music. The ladies at Cask Corner are hardworking independent women. Whilst working full time Lorna has recently qualified as a Nutrition and Weight Management Advisor, Megan Gascoigne is studying to be a teacher and she also teaches dancing, Chrissy works hard, saves her money and then jet sets off around the world, she has recently returned from a year in New Zealand and is now saving to go to Canada. We mustn't forget our men Steve and Bam are both working musicians and our newest edition Keith is now learning to play Ukulele at our Ukulele Club. They are family and what little free time they have is usually spent in each other’s company.
On draught we have 8 real ales, 1 fruit beer, 5 ciders, 2 lagers and over 50 bottled beers from around the world. We also offer the following to our customers; a large sunny outdoor smoking area which we regularly enter into the Doncaster in Bloom awards, fantastic Live bands every Friday & Saturday, Live Music on Tuesday at “Live & Gigging” (which is for up and coming bands and soloists). The first Tuesday of the month is Doncaster Homebrew Group which is open to all, Open Mic every Wednesday night (apart from the first Wednesday of the month which is Comedy Night, Quiz night every Thursday night and Live Bands the first and last Sunday of the month. We also have fortnightly Record Club and the Ukulele Club which meet on alternate Mondays.
There’s something for everyone from 18 or 80. Everybody is guaranteed a warm welcome, customers can also bring their own food in as long as they buy a drink.
We sponsor a local football team who are top of the league and wear the name Cask Corner with pride.
We support local businesses too, we have posters advertising Yorkshire Pie House and orders can be placed at the bar and they deliver the food to the customers so they don’t even have to leave if they’re peckish.
We have craft markets supporting local crafters towards Christmas. We have book signings organised in conjunction with Doncaster Library and Waterstones which have been very well received.
We try to ensure all our events fit in with those in the Doncaster Community; we have many local bands play during Doncasters music festival Mapfest and every year at Easter we have Mental Health Awareness Week offering help, advice and support, live music and raise money for Open Minds Counselling Service.
Also we care about our customers and there is a really friendly happy atmosphere the minute you walk through the door. Regular updates and conversations on Facebook www.facebook.com/caskcornerdivebar and Twitter @Caskcornerbar keeps the customer included in everything and also lets them have a say and know they’ll get a reply. Getting to know the customers is imperative to the Cask Corner team.
Including some form of entertainment in the evenings gives people something to come out for and we have got something on every evening.
So what are you waiting for if you’ve not been yet give us a try I guarantee you’ll have a great time and meet some lovely people and if you have been thanks for your support and we look forward to seeing you again.
